So far, it has been another exciting day in college basketball. The first two games of Sunday's eight-game slate have feature last-minute, third-round victories from the East Region's No. 2 seed, North Carolina Tar Heels, and the West Region's No. 1 seed, Duke Blue Devils.
Tyler Zeller scored 23 points and Harrison Barnes added 22 for the Tar Heels, who edged No. 7 Washington Huskies, 86-83. UNC will play either play No. 3 Syracuse or No. 11 Marquette in the region's semifinals held in Newark, NJ.
Other action in the East Region featured No. 1 Ohio St. demolishing No. 8 George Mason, 98-66. The Buckeyes will face No. 4 Kentucky Wildcats, which beat No. 4 West Virginia Mountaineers, 71-63, on Saturday.
In the West Region, the No. 1-seeded Duke Blue Devils squeaked by No. 7 Michigan Wolverines, 73-31, thanks to senior guard Nolan Smith's game-best 23 points. The Blue Devils will play No. 5 Arizona Wildcats or No. 4 Texas Longhorns in the region's semifinals, which are being played in Anaheim, CA.
Currently, the Wildcats hold a 36-25 halftime lead.
