New York Rangers Acquire McCabe

The New York Rangers have shipped out AHL-bound TIm Kennedy and a third-round draft pick for Florida Panthers defenseman Bryan McCabe.

The move, which has been rumored for the past few weeks, was completed this afternoon according to the tweets of Darren Dreger.

The move likely spells the end of either Matt Gilroy or Michael Del Zotto. For Gilroy the end would probably mean a trade out of Manhattan. For Del Zotto it would mean a trade or being sent down to Connecticut again.

So Glen Sather was finally able to land the power play big defenseman he wanted. The Rangers have been linked to McCabe since he was in Toronto, and it’s not surprising to see him finally land in New York.

If nothing else, this move proves that the Rangers are buyers this trade deadline.

More when we have it.
