Sorry football lovers, your season has come and gone. The weekend now belongs to college basketball, NBA, NHL, NASCAR, golf and the upcoming baseball season -- pitchers and catchers report this week! For me, from Super Bowl Sunday to Opening Day of the MLB season are the best sporting days of the year because March Maddness and Spring Training take place; and two major sports (NBA and NHL) are hitting its stretch runs to the playoffs. It's a great time to be a sports fan.↵
- However, it may not be a good time to be New York Knicks supporter, who Friday night watched their team fall to .500 mark after losing 113-96 to the Los Angeles Lakers. The Knicks are now in sixth place in the East Conference standings. ↵
- Brook Lopez netted a game-best 31 points to help the visiting New Jersey Nets defeat the Charlotte Bobcats, 94-89. The Nets earned their first road victory in 13 games. ↵
- The New Jersey Devils were also winners, 3-2, over the San Jose Sharks in overtime. Ilya Kovalchuk netted the game-winner just 24 seconds into OT. ↵
- The New York Rangers dropped their sixth straight contest with a 3-2 loss at the Atlanta Thrashers. ↵
Finally, the New York Islanders routed the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins, 9-3.
