In a look at this week's updated 2011 NFL Mock Drafts, defense remained overwhelmingly popular for the New York Jets, especially the defensive line. Phil Taylor of Baylor was the selection in three different mock drafts, while SB Nation pegged the Jets taking outside linebacker Akeem Ayers from UCLA to boost the Jets pass rush.
Here is what SB Nation said in selecting Ayers for theJets:
"It's not inconceivable that Ayers falls this far; he's not great at any one thing, and linebackers slide down draft boards as a rule in April. 3-4 teams will like Ayers' versatility and upside as a pass rusher, and a talented team like the Jets can afford to take the time to coach him up a bit."
