One of college football’s oldest rivalries takes place on Saturday afternoon when the Army Black Knights take on the Navy Midshipmen at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland, live on CBS at 2:30 p.m. ET.
Unfortunately neither team sports a winning record heading into this weekend's match-up (Army is 3-8, Navy 4-7), but when it comes to playing against each other, the Midshipmen have managed to sink the Black Knights in nine consecutive pairings.
It should come as no surprise then, to learn that Army is getting seven points (+7) in the spread and is +230 in the moneyline with an over/under of 58.
Here's how the teams match up:
The game pits Navy's No. 47-ranked offense, averaging 29.9 PPG, against a Black Knights defense that ranks No. 74 this week at 28.4 PPG. The Midshipmen aerial game is averaging 92.4 yards per game, less than the Black Knights secondary allows through the air, 178.1 YPG per game. Defensively, the Black Knights feature the league's No. 113-rated road run defense, allowing 245 yards per game. Navy, meanwhile, ranks No. 2 in rushing offense at home.
Army is coming off its third straight loss, a 42-14 shellacking to the Temple Owls in Philadelphia. Navy didn't fare much better, dropping a 27-24 nail-biter on the road against the San Jose St. Spartans.
Neither team has been lighting up the division, but that hasn't stopped this from becoming, once again, "America's Game."
