Madonna Gets Super Bowl XLVI Halftime Gig -- What Is The NFL Thinking?

Madonna will be the featured performer during the Super Bowl XLVI halftime shown Feb. 5 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. That has not been a secret for a while, but the NFL made that official Monday morning,

Madonna is the latest in a long line of well-known artists to get the halftime gig. That list includes The Black Eyed Peas, The Who, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Prince, the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and U2.

The performance, of course, coincides with Madonna having new music and a new film to promote. Don't all artists who get the halftime performance have something to promote?

Madonna has never been one for PC or PG performances. You have to wonder how much mayhem, or moments that will make Roger Goodell and the NFL cringe, that she will be able to cram into what is essentially a 12-minute performance.
