The Rutgers Scarlet Knights (8-4) are continuing their preparations for their matchup against the Iowa St. Cyclones (6-6) in the 2011 Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium on Dec. 30. Head coach Greg Schiano was asked about naming a starting quarterback for the game. He responded that the decision would come right before the game begins (via NJ.com).
Chas Dodd was 5-2 as a starter and Gary Nova was 3-2 as a starter during the 2011 season. Both quarterbacks provided a comeback win for the other who started during the season. Nova scored produced more touchdowns (11-9), but Dodd was better at not turning the ball over (8-13).
Schiano has not ruled out playing both quarterbacks in the Pinstripe Bowl. Dodd and Nova played in Rutgers' season-ending loss to Connecticut. Nova threw 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Dodd threw one interception. Both quarterbacks lost a fumble in the 40-22 defeat.
