2011 Independence Bowl: North Carolina Vs. Missouri

The Missouri Tigers football program makes its seventh straight bowl appearance Monday, as the Tigers (7-5) play the North Carolina Tar Heels in the Independence Bowl at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, LA (5 p.m. ET on ESPN2). The Tigers (7-5), who will be playing in the Southeastern Conference next season, did not earn a allotted bowl invite from their departing Big 12 Conference, while the Tar Heels (7-5) are playing in their third straight bowl game.

Both programs are playing with head coaches who have made headlines this season, as Missouri's headman Gary Pinkel was arrested on suspicion on drunk driven charges in mid-November, while North Carolina hired Southern Mississippi's Larry Fedora who just a few days ago helped the Golden Eagles win the Hawaii Bowl over Nevada.
