West Virginia-South Florida Final Score: Mountaineers Outlast The Bulls, 30-27

We still don't know who wins the Big East Conference football championship, but we're a heck of a lot closer now that West Virginia defeated  South Florida on Thursday night by a final score of 30-27 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.

This was a nail biter.

After a tepid first quarter that saw neither team enter the end zone, the Mountaineers jumped out to a 13-7 lead at halftime. The Bulls actually trailed at one point 20-10 in the third quarter but stormed back to score three straight times: once on a field goal followed by consecutive touchdowns.

Their 27-20 lead wouldn't last; however, as West Virginia tied it up with five minutes left to play and then sealed the deal with a game-ending field goal for the 30-27 win as time expired.

With the victory, the Mountaineers now have a chance to claim the Big East title. A win for Cincinnati over UConn on Saturday would make it a three-way tie with Louisville, which West Virginia would win by virtue of being the highest ranked in the BCS rankings of the three schools.

Stay tuned.
