Rutgers' injured true freshman running back Savon Huggins could be ready to play in time for the 2011 Pinstripe Bowl against Iowa State on Dec. 30. At the moment, Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano is not so certain about Huggins' status:
I'm not sure," Schiano said. "It's going to be a game week thing." (via NJ.com)
Huggins missed the last three games of the regular season with a knee injury he picked up in an overtime win against South Florida on Nov. 5. Huggins played in nine games for Rutgers in 2011, but did not start any. Huggins is the Scarlet Knights' third-leading rusher with 146 yards. He also caught one pass for 11 yards. Huggins has five of the team's 12 total rushing touchdowns this season.
