BCS Rankings, Week 11: Cincinnati Is Lone Big East Representative

The University of Cincinnati became the only Big East Conference program to crack the latest Bowl Championship Series rankings, released Sunday. The Bearcats (7-1, 3-0 Big East), who are currently on a six-game winning streak, including a 26-23 victory over the University of Pittsburgh Saturday at Heinz Field, were slotted No. 23 in the BCS standings.

Meanwhile, West Virginia University (6-3, 2-2), which has lost two of its last three contests, including a 38-35 loss to the University of Louisville Saturday, failed to making the BCS rankings for the first time this season. The Mountaineers have been the favorite to win the Big East title and its automatic BCS bowl berth, but now needs a lot to happen and Cincinnati to stumble to get back into the race.

Fortunately, for WVU fans the Mountaineers travel to the Bearcats this Saturday at noon.

After defeating the University of Alabama, 9-6, Saturday night, Louisiana State University is the clear cut No. 1-ranked team in the nation. The Crimson Tide dropped to No. 3 in the BCS rankings behind Oklahoma State University, which jumped in the rankings after edging Kansas State University, 52-45, Saturday.
