A day after edging the University of Pittsburgh, 26-23, the University of Cincinnati became the only Big East Conference program to be ranked in the latest college football polls, released Sunday. The Bearcats (7-1, 3-0 Big East), who are alone atop of the Big East standings, earned a No. 23-ranking in the AP Poll and are No. 18 in the USA Today/Coaches Poll.
Meanwhile, West Virginia University (6-3, 2-2), which has been ranked in the top 25 since the beginning of the season, received votes in the polls, but did not make the list. The Mountaineers have dropped two of their last three games, including a 38-35 loss to the University of Louisville this week.
Rutgers University earned two votes in the USA Today/Coaches poll. This is the third week this year that the Scarlet Knights (6-3, 3-2) have received votes in one of the poll. On Saturday, Rutgers edged the University of South Florida, 20-17, in overtime.
