The New York Jets' 28-24 victory over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday kept the Jets in realistic contention for an AFC playoff berth. If the playoffs started today, however, the Jets would be home watching on TV.
The Jets have little hope of catching New England to win the division. New York is two games behind with two losses to the Patriots already, so their only legitimate hope is a wild-card berth.
"We just need to win. It doesn't matter if it's pivotal, pretty, ugly or whatever. We'll take it. This part of the season, you have to win," Jets coach Rex Ryan said after Sunday's victory. "We wanted to win those games we lost previously, but it never happened. We have to look forward. Any time that we spend dwelling on what's happened in the past is not productive. It's straight ahead."
