Rutgers headed south of the border Tuesday night to take on Illinois State at the Moon Palace Resort in the semifinal round of the 2011 Cancun Challenge and as it turns out, Montezuma wasn't the only one looking for revenge in Mexico.
The Redbirds, who flew into Tuesday night's match-up following back-to-back wins over SIU-Edwardsville and Lipscomb, made it three in a row by lancing the Scarlet Knights by a final score of 76-70.
Rutgers, who drops to 3-2 with the loss, will head to the Louis Brown Athletic Center to take on the UMBC Retrievers next Monday while Illinois State, who improves to 3-1, will face the winner of Richmond vs. Illinois in tomorrow night's Mayan Division championship game.
Tuesday night's loss in Cancun snapped a two-game win streak for the Scarlet Knights.
