Need a wide receiver as a one-week fill-in for an injured player or one on his bye week? You could do worse than to take a flier on former New York Giant and current Philadelphia Eagle Steve Smith.
The former Giant, who holds the teams single-season reception record with 107 just two seasons ago, has been a non-factor for Philly this season with just 10. Smith, however, had five of those last week against Arizona and should receive significant playing time when the Eagles face the Giants in the Sunday Night Football matchup at MetLife Stadium.
Smith promises to be the target of boo-birds at MetLife, having left the Giants for the Eagles in a surprising move. He could also be a popular target for Vince Young, who is starting in place of the injured Michael Vick. Smith is a possession receiver, and as Young and Smith are both backups you have to believe they have spent a good amount of time working with each other.
