College Football Rankings Week 6 (Update): West Virginia Moves Up In Top 25

For the second straight week, West Virginia University is the only Big East Conference football program ranked in the college rankings, released Sunday afternoon. The Mountaineers (5-1, 1-0 Big East), who opened their Big East schedule by routing the University of Connecticut, 43-16, Saturday, is ranked No. 13 in the AP poll and No. 16 in the USA Today/Coaches poll. The Mountaineers have a bye week before traveling to Syracuse University to face the Orange in a Friday night match up, Oct. 21.

Meanwhile, the University of South Florida, which had previously been ranked in the Top 25, had a bye week, while the University of Pittsburgh lost to conference rival Rutgers Univerity, 34-10.

At the top of the two polls, Louisiana State University was ranked No. 1 in the AP poll, while the University of Alabama, University of Oklahoma, the University of Wisconsin, Boise State University, Oklahoma State University and the University of Standford were ranked No. 2-7, receptivity.

In the USA Today poll, it was: Oklahoma ranked No. 1, while LSU, Alabama, Wisconsin, Stanford, Boise State and Oklahoma State No. 2-7, respectively.
