Here are the Start/Sit Fantasy Football recommendations for the New York for Week 5 of the NFL season. As always, we will rely on projections from numberFire to support our analysis.
START
Eli Manning (QB)
numberFire Projection: 19.16 completions, 246.32 yards, 1.96 TDs, 0.64 INTs, 17.25 Fantasy Points
Analysis: Eli has been tremendous the past 10 quarters of play. If you have him, play him. If for some crazy reason he is available in your league, grab him. And play him.
Ahmad Bradshaw (RB)
numberFire Projection: 19.11 carries, 84.73 yards, 0.61 rushing TDs, 2.57 receptions, 20.34 yards, 0.00 TDs, 14.16 Fantasy Points
Analysis: Nineteen carries would be Bradshaw's biggest workload of the season. He is a GREAT play this week. The Giants will be looking to establish the run, and there are concerns about Brandon Jacobs' availability this week against the Seattle Seahawks due to a knee issue.
Hakeem Nicks (WR)
numberFire Projection: 5.38 receptions, 80.73 yards, 0.58 TDs, 11.65 Fantasy Points
Analysis: Nicks had 10 catches for 162 yards and a touchdown last week, and is emerging as one of the premier receivers in the league.
Victor Cruz (WR)
numberFire Projection: 3.70 receptions, 55.51 yards, 0.17 TDs, 6.23 Fantasy Points
Analysis: Cruz has had two big weeks in a row for the Giants, and seems to be finding the ball coming his way more often than the technical No. 2 receiver, Mario Manningham.
Lawrence Tynes (PK)
numberFire Projection: 1.54 field goals, 3.07 extra points, 8.29 Fantasy Points
Analysis: The Giants are a 10-point favorite this week. Tynes, who has kicked just two field goals this season, should finally have some real opportunities in this game.
SIT
Brandon Jacobs (RB)
numberFire Projection: 5.26 carries, 23.57 yards, 0.09 rushing TDs, 0.58 receptions, 4.77 yards, 0.02 TDs, 3.50 Fantasy Points
Analysis: Do not play Jacobs this week under any circumstances. He sat out of Giants' practice on Wednesday with swelling in his knee, and his status right now is uncertain.
Mario Manningham (WR)
numberFire Projection: 4.32 receptions, 69.12 yards, 0.40 TDs, 9.51 Fantasy Points
Analysis: I am not buying what numberFire is selling here. Manningham had just one catch a week ago in his return from a concussion, while Cruz had six. Manningham and Manning continued to have communication issues. I would not put Manningham in my lineup until he has a solid week.
Travis Beckum (TE)
numberFire Projection: 1.88 receptions, 18.42 yards, 0.24 TDs, 3.28 Fantasy Points
Analysis: Do not play this guy. He has one catch so far this season, and has never had a game where he has caught more than two balls. Make him prove something -- for a while -- before you play him. If you need a tight end, Jake Ballard of the Giants is a far superior choice to Beckum. Ballard had three catches, one for a touchdown, last week against Arizona. He isn't getting any respect, though. I can't even find projections for the guy.
