In the wake of a recent meeting with the Big East Conference, the University of Central Florida's Board of Trustees will hold a teleconference Friday to discuss conference realignment, according to a news release issued by the university Thursday.

The news release also stated that the school has not yet received an invitation to join another conference. According to a report by the Orlando Sentinel, Central Florida would have to pay an exit fee of $7 million to leave its current league of Conference-USA if it did so before 2013.

In the meantime, representatives from the Mountain West conference and Conference-USA are trying to convince UCF to join their proposed football alliance. Though UCF would be interested in such a move, the Orlando Sentinel reports the school would prefer to re-join its in-state rival, the University of South Florida,  and compete in the Big East, which has an automatic Bowl Championship Series bid at least until 2013.
