Bernard Hopkins is once again the WBC light heavyweight champion. After losing the title Saturday to Chad Dawson due to a technical knockout, The World Boxing Council released a statement reversing the decision to a technical draw.

Dawson won the title after Hopkins was unable to continue due to a shoulder injury in the second round. Replays showed that Dawson threw the 46-year-old to the canvas after Hopkins started to lean on Dawson.

Though he gets his belt back, the result cannot be officially changed unless the California commission decides to do so at their next meeting in December. WBC President Jose Sulaiman recognized that he is not able to "intervene in the decisions of the boxing commissions" but hoped "the California commission will review our ruling."

The one thing we know is there will not be a rematch. Promoters for both fighters have made it clear they have no interest and the lack of buzz (read: ticket and PPV sales) will keep HBO and Showtime far, far away from making the same mistake twice.
