Yankees Vs. Tigers: ALDS Game 2 Preview

The New York Yankees will look to take a 2-0 advantage today in the best-of-five American League Division Series matchup with the Detroit Tigers. Game is 3 p.m. ET (TNT). The Yankees won Saturday, 9-3, as the teams finished the suspended Game 1 that began on Friday night.

Today was supposed to be an off day in the series as the teams travel to Detroit to play Monday. The suspension of Game 1, however, forced a change in plans.

Yankees Win Game 1, 9-3

The Yankees turn to veteran right-hander Freddy Garcia today. The 34-year-old Garcia went 12-8 with a 3.62 ERA, mixing splitters and other off-speed stuff well enough to post his first sub-4.00 ERA for a full season since 2005. Garcia signed with the Yankees as a free agent after Andy Pettitte decided not to return.

"If I want to pitch in the Big Leagues, whatever I have right now, I have to do whatever I can, throw -- try to learn any kind of pitch I can. I have to go there, sinker, backdoor slider, slow curve, I throw anything that I locate and throw for a strike every pitch," Garcia said. "I got to live, like I said before, with what I got."

Detroit pitches 27-year-old Max Scherzer, who went 15-9 with 4.43 ERA this season.
