Senior guard Dwight Hardy has netted a game-high 12 points for the St. John's Red Storm, who has taken a 46-25 halftime advantage against No. 3 Duke Blue Devils in a non-confernece match up at Madison Square Garden. Hardy's teammate, senior forward Justin Brownlee, has added 11 points. The Johnnies (11-8, 4-5 Big East), who has used a full-court press since the opening tip, has held the Blue Devils 3-point shooting (1 for 13) in check.
Duke (19-1, 6-1) took an early 4-0 lead but St. John's responded with a 20-8 run, helped by eight points from Hardy, that allowed the Red Storm take an 20-12 advantage with 8:54 to go in the first half. From there, St. John's outscored Duke 26-17 to take it's largest lead into the half.
Currently, Duke has shot just 8 for 27 (29.7 percent) from the field. St. John's is 16-of-28 (57.1) and 3 for 5 from 3-point land. Senior forward Kyle Singler leads the Blue Devils with eight points.
