The Pittsburgh Steelers have not officially ruled rookie center Maurkice Pouncey out of the Super Bowl against the Green Bay Packers. Pouncey, however, is in a cast due to the severe left ankle injury he suffered in the AFC Championship Game against the New York Jets, and at least one teammate is openly saying the rookie center will not play.
“We are definitely sad that he won’t be able to be with us in the Super Bowl,” said Kemoeatu following today’s practice on the South Side. “Definitely I feel bad for him. We just have to win it for him.
“We know how big this is for him and him not being able to play is definitely motivating for us to go out there and get that ring for him."
Doug Legursky will play if Pouncey cannot. Legursky and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger messed up an exchange against the Jets that led to a safety in the fourth quarter.
