2011 Pro Bowl: Six Players Represent New York Teams

A total of six players will represent the two New York teams in this weekend's 2011 NFL Pro Bowl game, which will be held Saturday at 6:30 p.m. ET (FOX). Cornerback Darrelle Revis and offensive tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson will represent the Jets on the AFC squad. Chris Snee, Justin Tuck, Antrel Rolle and Zak DeOssie will represent the Giants on the NFC squad.

Centers Nick Mangold (Jets) and Shaun O'Hara (Giants) were voted to the team but will not play due to injuries.

Of course, nobody cares about the Pro Bowl. Last season it was mildly interesting since it was actually held in South Florida, which made it accessible for NFL fans who might have wanted to attend, maybe kicking off their Super Bowl week celebration. Oh, the fact that SB Nation allowed me to attend helped, too. Nobody will be offering to send me to Hawaii, though, I know that much.

This, of course, is the second year that the Pro Bowl is being held before the Super Bowl. It is Commissioner Roger Goodell's way of trying to drum up interest in an un-interesting, totally meaningless game. I don't know about you guys, but I still think hosting it the week prior to the Super Bowl is a dumb idea. I don't see how it drums up interest, and it penalizes anyone from the Super Bowl teams who might actually want to play -- and take the Hawaii trip. Personally, I'd rather see them just skip the game entirely.

All of that said, I'm wondering if anyone has thoughts on Giants or Jets players who should be on the team but are not. For the Giants I think you can make strong cases for offensive tackle Kareem McKenzie, guard/center Rich Seubert and maybe defensive tackle Barry Cofield. What do you Jets fans think? Anyone from your squad you believe should have a ticket to Hawaii but does not?
