Islanders Deal Roloson To Lightning

If it wasn't obvious already, the New York Islanders Saturday made it obvious once again that they are in a rebuilding process when they traded veteran goalkeeper Dwayne Roloson to the Tampa Bay Lightning for a minor league defenseman, Ty Wishart.

Also last week the islanders traded defenseman James Wisniewski to the Montreal Canadiens for a pair of draft choices. Roloson, 41, is in his 12th NHL season and obviously not part of the future for a team that is just 11-19-6 this season.

Roloson is 6-13-1 this season  with a 2.64 goals-against average and .916 save percentage in 20 games. He is in the final year of a two-year contract and can become a free agent on July 1. In 532 NHL games, Roloson is 196-229-42-33 with a 2.66 GAA.

SB Nation's Lighthouse Hockey analyzes what the trade means for the Islanders.
