Dennis Wideman's powerplay goal at 2:15 of the first period put the Panthers ahead. Mike Santorelli set up along the side boards with the puck and fired a shot to Wideman. The Panthers defenseman, alone in the slot, wristed a shot past Brodeur's pads for his fifth goal of the season.
The special teams are the difference-maker tonight. The Panthers are 2-for-3 on the powerplay tonight while the Devils are scoreless in three chances.
Florida will start the third period with 1:55 left of powerplay time as Colin White will serve the rest of his cross-checking minor.
