On the periphery of the Carmelo Anthony madness that has swept the NBA, there are still actual games being played in NBA arenas around the league. The New York Knicks will be involved in one of those this evening when they are in Portland this evening to take on the Trail Blazers.
The Knicks (21-15) have split the first two games on this four-game West Coast trip, defeating Phoenix and losing to the Los Angeles Lakers. The Knicks will finish the trip in Utah Wednesday night.
The Trail Blazers are led by foward LaMarcus Aldridge (20.5 points, 8.8 rebounds per game) and Brandon Roy (16.6 ppg). Former Knick Marcus Camby averages 11.4 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game for Portland.
Amare Stoudemire leads the Knicks with averages of 26.3 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. The Knicks are still playing without starting forward Danilo Gallinari. He may return from his sprained knee on Friday when the Knicks return to Madison Square Garden to host the Sacramento Kings.
