Bears At Giants: Five Reasons Giants Fans Should Feel Good

Mario Manningham missed practice today for the New York Giants with a concussion, and that surprised head coach Tom Coughlin.

“The nature of it, I guess, was late Sunday night when he contacted people in the training room,” Coughlin said today. “He really appeared to be fine Monday when we saw him. We didn’t expect there to be any slow down today in practice. There was (during the morning “corrections” walkthrough).

“He’ll be tested again and we’ll see how that comes out. We’re a little bit surprised that there’s an issue.”

Coughlin did not say if the concussion was severe or whether he expected Manningham to be back at practice tomorrow. Given the NFL’s recent, high-profile concern over the growing concussion problem around the league, the Giants will undoubtedly be very cautious with their No. 3 receiver.

Keith Bulluck (toe), Rocky Bernard (back), Shaun O'Hara (ankle/achilles). Will Beatty (foot), Chase Blackburn (knee) and Phillip Dillard (hamstring) were also on the injury report.
