Rutgers, Miami Might Meet At Yankee Stadium

A Rutgers-Miami Big East matchup could be the next one added to the list of college football games to be played at Yankee Stadium. ESPN is reporting that the schools are close to an agreement to play at the stadium in 2013.

Rutgers athletic director Tim Pernetti said in a statement the schools were in "active discussions" about the game. The Scarlet Knights are scheduled to play Army in Yankee Stadium next season.

"It has the potential to be just another great opportunity, in our home market, for our football program," Pernetti said about the potential Miami game.

Hurricanes athletic director Kirby Hocutt told the Miami Herald that a deal "could be imminent" and that it would be a "fun matchup" against Rutgers coach Greg Schiano, a former Miami defensive coordinator.

The first football game at the new stadium will be held Nov. 20 when Army and Notre Dame meet. The stadium will play host to the inaugural Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 30, pitting teams from the Big East and Big 12.
