  • A-Rod still can come through with a big fly. Down to the Yankees final strike, A-Rod hit a bomb off of Koji Uehara to give the Yanks a huge 4-3 win over the Orioles last night. It was Rodriguez's 25th homer of the season and second of the game, as he also hit a solo shot in the second off of Kevin Millwood, which means that A-Rod was basically the entirety of the Bombers' offense in the game. AJ Burnett wasn't bad, giving up three runs on six hits in seven innings, striking out five but surrendering two home runs of his own. Millwood gave up only the solo jack to A-Rod and five hits over seven innings, but both starters got no decisions, as David Robertson won the game for New York, and Mariano Rivera got his 31st save. Coupled with the Rays losing to the Angels, the Yanks are back on top in the AL East yet again.  Pinstripe Alley with more.

  • Ilya Kovalchuk spoke to the media for the first time since returning to the Devils, and says he was committed to returning to Jersey's team, though he'd have considered playing in the KHL had his second contract been rejected by the league as well.

  • The NFL completed it's investigation on the Ines Sainz situation with the Jets. Gang Green Nation with the full story.

  • Osi Umenyiora and Hakeem Nicks are (uh oh) game-time decisions for Manning Bowl II. Big Blue View has more.

  • Sean Avery looked terrific out in Rangers camp. Was this on or off the ice, boys? Blueshirt Banter finds out.
