  • The New York Giants opened New Meadowlands Stadium with an impressive 31-18 victory over the Carolina Panthers. Excellent defense, opportunistic offense for the Giants. Big Blue View has its weekly 'Kudos & Wet Willies' review. Unfortunately, Sunday was not as kind to New York's baseball teams.

  • The New York Yankees got swept by the Texas Rangers, as Cliff Lee and the Rangers won Sunday, 4-1. The only good news for the Yankees is that Tampa Bay lost to Toronto, 5-4, keeping the Yankees in first place in the AL East. The Yankees and Rays open meet tonight at Tropicana Field with Cy Young candidates CC Sabathia and David Price squaring off.
