Is it just me, or are we on one of those totally coincidental runs where the Yankees and Mets are winning and losing on corresponding days every day? On to the skinny:
↵↵
- ↵
- A first inning error by Luis Castillo led to a three-run first, and that was all Atlanta needed to beat the Mets, 4-1 in the first of a three-game series. Tim Hudson got the win, and Johan Santana struck out 10 in a losing effort. The Mets drop to even .500, and a fourth place spot in the NL East. Amazin' Avenue with more. ↵
- Another day, another homerless one for Alex Rodriguez. The Yankees surrendered seven to Toronto in the top half of the fifth inning and never could crawl back in an 8-6 loss to the Blue Jays. AJ Burnett started okay, but couldn't get out of the fifth. A two-run Edwin Encarnacion homer was the backbreaker. A loss and a Rays win over the Twins last night means were all tied up in the AL East at 66-39. Pinstripe Alley with more. ↵
- The Ilya Kovalchuk case will be heard in Boston starting Wednesday. In Lou We Trust with more. ↵
- If you read these things, you know that Cappie Pondexter has been lighting up the WNBA for the Liberty all season long. Pondexter was named Eastern Conference player of the week for the second consecutive week. ↵
