Jets, Mangold Agree On Lenghty And Hefty Extension

The wait is over. Nick Mangold and the New York Jets have agreed to terms on a mega-extension that will make him the highest paid center in the National Football League. The deal is for seven years and a reported $55 million. There’s thought to be approximately $20 million in guaranteed m, though the specifics of the guaranteed terms have yet to be finalized or made public officially.

Mangold was scheduled to make $3.3 million this season, which will be included as the first year in the new deal. The sides were reported to be closing in on a deal last night, and his representatives flew in this morning to hammer out the final details.

"You lock up the best center in football," Ryan said. "That would be a huge thing for our franchise."
