Johan Santana threw 103 pitches in his start Tuesday against the Astros. And of those 103, only a few factored in his decision.
But two especially spoiled Santana's outing, and they both came off the bat of right fielder Hunter Pence. Pence homered off Santana twice and those blasts were the difference in a 4-3 loss.
"I knew that in this ballpark you have to throw the right pitch," Santana said. "If you put the ball in play, it has a very good chance to be a homer and that was the case."
