Eli Manning Feeling Good, But Will Not Play In Saturday's Preseason Game

Eli Manning has said that he’s ready to return to the football field again – even after Monday night’s collision that left him 12 stitches.

The only thing holding him back, though, is that he’s not quite able to put on his helmet yet.

“That will be the deal, seeing when I can put a helmet back on,” Manning said. “Anytime you have stitches, you got to be careful to make sure those things don’t break. When it is preseason, you kind of have time to get things healed up and it is about being smart.”

According to several reports, Giants coach Tom Coughlin said Manning will not play Saturday night against Pittsburgh.

Rhett Bomar took all of the quarterback snaps in Wednesday’s practice.
