Morning Coffee! Are You Ready For Some Football?

Good morning, New York sports fans! Here is your first look at what is happening today around the city sports scene.

  • Hope you are ready for some football. It is New York Jets vs. New York Giants tonight in a very green New Meadowlands Stadium (since it is technically a Jets home game). Finally, the silly trash-talking stops and the mostly meaningless preaseason game starts. SB Nation New York has you covered, with previews and a Top 5 looking at the history of the rivalry. For more, check out Gang Green Nation (Jets) and Big Blue View (Giants).

  • Good A.J. and Good Mike showed up pitching for New York's baseball teams Sunday night. Unfortunately, Bryan Bullington was better than A.J. Burnett in a 1-0 Kansas City victory over the Yankees and Kyle Kendrick was better than Mike Pelfrey in a 3-1 Philadelphia victory over the Mets. See Pinstripe Alley (Yankees) and Amazin' Avenue (Mets) for more.

  • It's not New York-related, but it has to stink to be Dustin Johnson this morning. Johnson lost a chance to win the PGA Championship Sunday when he got hit with a two-stroke penalty on the final hole for grounding his club in a bunker -- when he didn't know he was in a bunker. Ouch!
