Flushing, NY (Sports Network) – Joey Votto let out his All-Star snub frustration on the New York Mets, belting two home runs and scoring three times, as the Cincinnati Reds took an 8-6 decision in the first of three games at Citi Field.
The Reds also got solid contributions from the bottom of their order, as Drew Stubbs and Corky Miller each drove in two runs for Cincinnati. Jordan Smith (2-1) picked up the victory in relief, hurling 2 1/3 frames while allowing one run on three hits.
Mike Pelfrey (10-3) was sacked with the loss after giving up seven runs — six of them in the decisive fifth frame — on nine hits with four walks and just one strikeout.
