Morning Coffee! A-Rod Still Waiting

Good morning, New York sports fans. Here is today's first look around the local sports scene.

  • Alex Rodriguez certainly knows how to build suspense. The New York Yankee slugger went 0-for-Cleveland in his effort to hit his 600th career home run. The A-Rod 600 show now moves on to Tampa Bay. I know Rodger Sherman is thrilled about that. Sorry, Rodger! By thw way, the Yankees pounded Cleveland Thursday night, 11-4.

  • The New York Mets got 8.1 shutout innings from veteran knuckleballer R.A. Dickey in a 4-0 victory over St. Louis.

  • The New York Giants and New York Jets will be the last teams to open NFL training camps. Each will hold their first full practices Monday. Nice to see that David Tyree will retire as a Giant. Jets fans can't be too happy that running back Joe McKnight failed a conditioning run. Attaboy, Joe! Take your NFL job seriously.
