Good morning, New York sports. Here is your Friday morning first look around the local sports scene.

Thierry Henry debuted impressively in front of 20,312 New York Red Bulls fans Thursday night. Henry scored in a 2-1 loss to Tottenham. Howard Megdal was there, so be sure to check out his thoughts on Henry's performance. See Once A Metro for more.

Alex Rodriguez hit his 599th home run Thursday night. There has been little to no attention paid to A-Rod's approach to 600 home runs, and it was nice to see Yankee Stadium come alive when Rodriguez came to the plate in the 8th inning with a shot at the milestone. Signs, flashbulbs and a noticeable buzz around the building. I was glad to see it. See Pinstripe Alley for more.
↵ - Maybe the punch-less New York Mets should have signed Henry rather than the Red Bulls. The soccer star can do what the Mets seemingly can't -- score. The Mets forgot their bats again Thursday in a 2-0 loss to the Dodgers. See Amazin' Avenue for more. ↵
