- In case you went to bed before hearing the news, Ilya Kovalchuk is a free agent again. The NHL rejected Kovy's 17-year deal with the New Jersey Devils. You had to figure there was something fishy about a 17-year contract, and the NHL agreed. SB Nation New York's Joe Fortunato and Steve LePore are all over this development, so stay right here to follow any more twists to this seemingly never-ending story. ↵
- Not a good night for the local baseball squads. The Mets, who can't seem to score, dropped a tough to Arizona, 3-2. The road has not been kind to Jerry Manuel's team as they have lost 11 of 15 away from home. The Yankees got pounded by Anaheim, 10-2, as Phil Hughes had a tough night. As always, Amazin' Avenue has more about the Mets, and Pinstripe Alley has the Yankees covered. ↵
- It might still be the off-season for NFL teams, it appears that Kris Jenkins' mouth is in mid-season form. Among other things, the New York Jets' defensive tackle called a few of his former teammates "women" during an appearance on NFL Total Access Tuesday. Ouch! Hey, Kris tell us how you really feel. ↵
- Via the magical powers of Facebook, New York Giants' second-year cornerback Bruce Johnson answered some questions for Big Blue View. He comes off as a good, hard-working kid. ↵
- Former New York Yankee manager and current Chicago Cub skipper Lou Piniella announced his retirement Tuesday. It sounds like anotherex-Yankee skipper, Joe Torre, might not be far behind. By the way, Alex Rodriguez had some great things to say about Piniella, who was A-Rod's manager in Seattle. ↵
