It has been a good time lately for prospects from New York, New Jersey and throughout the local area. We've seen many prospects from both states (James van Riemsdyk, Bobby Ryan, Eric Nystrom, Bobby Sanguinetti) going as high as the third pick overall in van Riemsdyk and Ryan's cases. This year, however, was not a banner year for either state, particularly locally. Not to discount the upstate folks, but the first pick to come from this area was Glen Head, NY native Patrick McNally, who went in the 4th round (No. 115 overall) to the Vancouver Canucks. McNally is a product of the Suffolk Pride, which has produced Nystrom, Mike Komisarek and Chris Higgins.
The official list of draft picks from the area is below.
Patrick McNally, Vancouver (Round 4, No. 115 overall, Glen Head, NY)
Luke Walker, Colorado (Round 5, No. 139 overall, New Haven, CT)
Kenneth Agostino, Pittsburgh (Round 5, No. 140 overall, Morristown, NJ)
Anthony Bitetto, Nashville (Round 6, No, 168, Island Park, NY)
Lee Moffie, San Jose (Round 7, No. 188, Wallingford, CT)
