Poem: Lectures By Steve Phillips

Here's How a GM Sizes Up the Trade Market, by Steve Phillips

Think You Can Be GM? You Have No Idea, by Steve Phillips

Nearly eight years since Mets, on Phillips, drew the curtain

He remains just the same; always wrong, always certain

Hearing others want to run teams had made Phillips tired

Who could live up to Steve? (Who, remember, was fired)

For instance, one must learn to trade Jason Bay

When one needs Steve Reed; it is the only way

And let no one forget when he acquired Mo Vaughn

That day Mets fans saw current dynasty dawn

And though he tried trading both Reyes and Wright

He was foiled by GMs who were even less bright

So though since leaving Mets, he's had so much success,

For advice on my team, I'll take care of the mess
