Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) – Chris Carter belted a three-run homer and R.A. Dickey tossed seven solid innings, as the New York Mets beat the Baltimore Orioles, 5-1, in the opener of a three-game interleague series at Camden Yards.
David Wright collected three hits and knocked in a pair of runs for New York, which has won six of its last seven games. Dickey (4-0) gave up one run on seven hits while issuing just one walk. He also recorded a career-high eight strikeouts.
Baltimore starter Jeremy Guthrie (3-7) was tagged for four runs on seven hits over seven innings.
