Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) – Adam Jones hit a go-ahead RBI double in the sixth to help Jake Arrieta take the win in his major league debut, as the Orioles avoided a sweep with a 4-3 victory over the Yankees.
Arrieta (1-0), who was promoted from Triple-A Norfolk earlier Thursday, gave up three runs on four hits and four walks in six innings, and struck out six. David Hernandez worked a scoreless ninth for his first career save.
Jones finished 2-for-4 with two runs batted in, while Scott Moore homered for the Orioles, who had dropped the first two games of this series and had lost 12 of their last 13 overall.
A.J. Burnett (6-4) gave up four runs in 6 2/3 innings for the Yankees, who had won 10 in a row against Baltimore this season.
