Buffalo Bills At New York Jets: Backups Could Make Case For Playoff Playing Time

It is no secret that many of the Jets backups will see extended action this Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. Here are a few players that can make a case for playing time the following week in the first round of the playoffs --

1. Joe McKnight - "The reason we released Danny Woodhead" has slowly been getting more involved and actually turned into a pretty good special teams player. However, he should see plenty of reps at running back this week and with a strong performance could be involved in the Jets offensive game plan the following week. McKnight has the speed to get to the outside that neither Shonn Greene or LaDainian Tomlinson possess and also has the ability to line up in the slot.

2. Marquice Cole - A guy that has played all over the Jets secondary this year and has shown some potential. You have to wonder whether he could be more effective than Drew Coleman or Dwight Lowery. If Cole puts together another strong performance Sunday, perhaps he will be involved in more defensive packages during wild-card weekend.

3. Kyle Wilson - Unfortunately our 2010 first round pick has been somewhat of a bust so far this year. I am sure the defensive coaching staff will give him a longer look than usual this Sunday and maybe if he has learned to play the football in the air, he will split nickel reps with Drew Coleman again.

4. Marcus Dixon - Another random defensive lineman who has more sacks than Vernon Gholston. Dixon was activated for the only the second time last week and still recorded his first sack of the season. He is a big body who might provide an upgrade over Gholston in the defensive line rotation.
