Will seven be a lucky number for the New York Knicks? The streaking Knicks seek their seventh straight victory tonight when they travel to face the 6-15 Washington Wizards. Not so coincidentally, Amare Stoudemire will be seeking a franchise record-tying seventh consecutive game with 30 or more points.
"Any time you can win the way we have been and play with this type of swagger and enjoy all the camaraderie, it's so much fun," Stoudemire said. "We just want to keep that feeling going."
Stoudemire is trying to keep the focus on winning, which the 14-9 Knicks have done 11 times in their last 12 games, and not on his scoring exploits.
"It's always great to be in the conversation with some of the greats in New York, but it was never a thought in my mind to break any records offensively," he said Thursday.
"For us it's just a matter of winning and if we continue to win, there's going to be more accomplishments that we can achieve."
The Wizards have been streaking in the opposite direction of the Knicks, going 1-7 in their last eight games. Wizards rookie John Wall (17.4 points, 9.1 assists per game) is still bothered by a sore foot and did not play against the Kings. Wall and forward Andray Blatche (hip) are both questionable for Friday's game. Blatche has missed two straight games. Blatche averages 17.1 points and 7.8 rebounds. Gilbert Arenas is scoring 17.4 points per game for the Wizards.
