New York Islanders At New York Rangers: Rivalry Part One

The New York Rangers will take on the New York islanders tonight, in the start of a home and home for the two teams.

The Rangers are coming off a disappointing 3-1 loss to the Penguins at MSG, while the Islanders are looking to simply find a way to turn their once-hot season around. Both teams can desperately use the four points sitting on the table.

The Rangers are the obvious favorites, with the Islanders coming in dead last in the SB Nation power rankings for the past month consecutivley. Regardless of who starts for the Islanders (between Rick DiPietro and Dwayne Roloson) the Islanders will need to shore up their defense to keep the Ranger attack at bay.

Although Alexander Frolov hasn't been scoring, Marian Gaborik seems to be recovering well from the flue, Artem Anisimov is due for a goal, Derek Stepan has been on fire and there isn't enough one can write about Brandon Dubinsky and Ryan Callahan's contributions.

Henrik Lundqvist expects to get the nod for the Rangers, although don't be surprised if Martin Biron gets a game as well. John Tortorella has been good to his word with keeping Lundqvist fresh this season, and Biron has risen his play to the challenge.
