Big East Bowl Projections: Syracuse Orange Still On Track To Play In NYC

For the past couple of weeks, the Syracuse Orange seemed to be a lock to participate in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium on Dec. 30 at 3:15 p.m..

However, their loss to Connecticut on Saturday made their bowl projection a bit shaky as two of the three websites have switched their opinion on where the Orange (7-4, 4-3 Big East) will play. Interesting enough, the odds still favor Yankee Stadium.

ESPN.com Big East Blogger Brian Bennett still has SU playing in the Bronx and Pittsburgh (6-4, 3-2) earning the conference's BCS bowl bid to the Fiesta Bowl on Jan 1 in Glendale, AZ.

For the last couple of weeks, College Football Bowls at CBSSports.com had the Orange playing in the Meineke Car Care Bowl. This week, the website agrees with Bennett and as Kansas State (6-5, 3-5 Big 12) as the opponent.

In another twist, CBSSports.com has West Virginia (7-3, 3-2) winning the Big East title and earning the BCS bowl bid.

Take your choice -- Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Connecticut, South Florida?," says the website. "Let's say West Virginia, which should beat Pittsburgh next week.

Scout.com's 2010-2011 Bowl Projections is the only one who has UConn (6-4, 3-2) earning the New Era Pinstripe invite and Syracuse playing in BBVA Compass Bowl in Birmingham, AL on Jan. 8 at noon.

The Huskies will play Kansas State while SU battles Kentucky (6-5, 2-5 Southeastern Conference).

No website has Rutgers (4-6, 1-4), which needs to win its final two games to become bowl eligible, earning an invite.
