New Jersey Nets At Denver Nuggets: Looking For A West Coast Split

(Sports Network) - The New Jersey Nets finish up a four-game western road trip tonight in the Rockies when they face the Denver Nuggets at Pepsi Center.

The Nets fell to 1-2 on the trek last night in Sacramento when Tyreke Evans finished with 20 points, as the Kings held off New Jersey, 86-81, to snap a six-game losing streak.

Kris Humphries ended with 18 points and 10 boards for the Nets, who have lost 25 of their last 26 games against Western Conference opponents with the lone win coming against the LA Clippers on the opener of this trip.

Brook Lopez and Devin Harris shot a combined 6-of-21 and accounted for 17 points.

"Both Devin and I really didn't have great games," Lopez said. "Two co- captains of this team, we've got to step it up, we can't have nights like this."

New Jersey will be searching for its third road win tonight, a feat it didn't accomplish until Feb. 27 last season.

The Nuggets, meanwhile, are coming off a tough 86-83 loss in Portland on Thursday. LaMarcus Aldridge scored 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in that one, as the Trail Blazers held off Denver.

Carmelo Anthony finished with 18 points and eight rebounds for the Nuggets, who have lost four straight on the road. Al Harrington added 17 points off the bench. Arron Afflalo scored 16 points and pulled down 11 rebounds in defeat.

Anthony, of course, has yet to accept a three-year, $65 million extension offered to him by Denver in June and has been the subject of rampant trade rumors with New Jersey regarded as one of the key suitors.

The Nuggets have won three straight and six of their last seven meetings with the Nets.
