The New York Yankees have set their 25-man roster for the American League Division Series against the Minnesota Twins.
From the LoHud Yankees Blog, here it is:
Pitchers: Sabathia, Pettitte, Hughes, Burnett, Mitre, Moseley, Logan, Robertson, Chamberlain, Wood, Rivera
Catchers: Posada, Cervelli
Infielders: Teixeira, Cano, Jeter, Rodriguez, Berkman, Pena
Outfielders: Swisher, Granderson, Gardner, Thames, Kearns, Golson
Valentine’s View: Hooray, no Chad Gaudin on the postseason roster. GM Brian Cashman has taken away manager Joe Girardi’s favorite toy, Gaudin, who seemed to pitch (usually badly) almost every day in September. The last two pitching spots go to Sergio Mitre and Dustin Moseley, leaving veteran Javier Vazquez and rookie Ivan Nova on the outside looking in.
I thought maybe the Yankees would take rookie infielder Eduardo Nunez instead of Ramiro Pena. Pena, though, has been with the Yankees all season so keeping him is not exactly a shocker.
Golson makes it as a reserve outfielder strictly for his speed and defensive ability.
