- The Yankees will likely regret today's second game of their doubleheader with the Boston Red Sox as a missed chance to make their own destiny in the race for the AL East crown. The Yankees won 6-5 in 10 innings in Game #1, while losing 7-6 in 10 innings in Game #2. A Derek Jeter single in the top of the 10th won Game #1 for New York, while an Eric Patterson single off of Ivan Nova won Game #2 for the Sox. The Rays shutout the Royals, 4-0 in Kansas City, so the AL East is tied headed into Game #162. Both teams will play again tomorrow to decide things once and for all. Pinstripe Alley has more. ↵
- The Islanders split a pre-season home-and-home with the Devils this weekend, defeating New Jersey at the Coliseum, 2-1. The Isles got goals from Josh Bailey and Blake Comeau, while Zach Parise tallied for Jersey. Rick DiPietro made 25 saves for New York. The Devils open on Friday against the Stars, while Dallas will travel to the Island to open up their season on Saturday. Lighthouse Hockey and In Lou We Trust have more. ↵
- The Rangers finished their pre-season with a loss to the Ottawa Senators, 8-5 up in Ontario. Zach Smith and Chris Kelly both had hat tricks for Ottawa, while Todd White led the Rangers with two goals, including one shorthanded. Martin Biron did not look good for New York. Blueshirt Banter has more. ↵
- Rutgers football is not having a good year. The Scarlet Knights lost their homecoming game to Tulane, 17-14. On the Banks has more. ↵
